Asian Glazed Turkey Meatballs are a quick, light, and flavorful dinner option combining lean ground turkey with a sweet and savory Asian-inspired glaze. Perfect for weeknights or entertaining, these tender meatballs feature fresh aromatics and a sticky honey-soy glaze, making them versatile to serve as appetizers, over rice, or in lettuce wraps.

Ingredients

Scale

Meatball Mixture

  • 1 lb ground turkey (lean and tender)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs (use gluten-free if desired)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for soy-free)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sriracha or chili flakes (optional, adjust for heat)

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Meatball Mixture: In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, minced garlic, grated ginger, breadcrumbs, egg, and a small splash of soy sauce. Mix gently until just combined to avoid dense meatballs.
  2. Form the Meatballs: Using your hands or a small scoop, shape the mixture into bite-sized, uniform meatballs to ensure even cooking.
  3. Cook the Meatballs: Heat a skillet over medium heat with a little sesame oil. Add the meatballs and cook, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Prepare the Asian Glaze: While the meatballs cook, mix soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, and sriracha in a small bowl. Pour the glaze over the cooked meatballs in the pan and toss to coat evenly. Allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Remove the glazed meatballs from heat. Garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds, then serve immediately.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the meatball mixture to keep them tender.
  • Use a cookie scoop for uniform meatballs to cook evenly.
  • Fresh garlic and ginger greatly enhance the flavor.
  • Let the glaze simmer gently to thicken without burning.
  • Allow meatballs to rest a few minutes after cooking to lock in juices.
