Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Bacon

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 68 slices crispy bacon, chopped

Pasta and Cheese

  • 12 cooked pasta sheets (lasagna noodles) or gluten-free pasta sheets
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Vegetables and Toppings

  • 1 cup diced onions
  • 1/2 cup diced pickles

Sauces and Condiments

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook the Bacon and Ground Beef: Fry bacon strips in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp. Transfer bacon to paper towels to drain. Using the remaining bacon fat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Sauté Onions and Mix with Sauces: Add diced onions to the skillet and cook until softened. Stir in ketchup, mustard, and tomato sauce. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes to meld the flavors.
  3. Prepare the Baking Sheet and Assemble Layers: Grease a sheet pan. Lay a layer of cooked pasta sheets. Spread a portion of the meat sauce over the pasta. Sprinkle cooked bacon pieces and diced pickles evenly over the sauce. Add a generous layer of cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used, finishing with a cheese layer on top.
  4. Bake Until Golden and Bubbly: Bake the lasagna in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly browned.
  5. Let It Rest Before Serving: Allow the lasagna to rest for 10 minutes after baking to set, making it easier to cut and serve.

Notes

  • Cook bacon first and use its fat to add extra flavor when cooking beef and onions.
  • Drain excess grease from the ground beef after browning to avoid soggy lasagna.
  • Distribute bacon and pickles evenly for consistent bursts of flavor.
  • Combining sharp cheddar and mild mozzarella results in the perfect melty and flavorful topping.
  • Let the lasagna rest before slicing to help it hold its shape and improve texture.
