Cranberry Brie Bites

Cranberry Brie Bites are an elegant and easy-to-make holiday appetizer featuring creamy brie cheese and tart cranberry sauce nestled in golden, flaky puff pastry cups. Perfect for festive parties or casual gatherings, these bite-sized treats balance sweet and savory flavors with a beautiful presentation that delights guests every time.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Puff pastry sheets (thawed, enough to cut squares for mini muffin tin)
  • Brie cheese (cut into small cubes or thin slices, about 8 oz)
  • Cranberry sauce (1 teaspoon per bite, about ½ cup total)
  • Fresh rosemary or thyme, finely chopped (optional, 1-2 teaspoons)
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Thaw puff pastry sheets according to package instructions, usually 20–30 minutes at room temperature. Once pliable, roll out the dough slightly to smooth creases, then cut into squares sized to fit mini muffin tin cups.
  2. Form the Pastry Cups: Press each puff pastry square gently into the mini muffin tin wells, ensuring it covers the bottom and sides evenly to form cups for filling.
  3. Add the Brie Cheese: Place a small cube or thin slice of brie into each pastry cup, filling about halfway to allow for melting during baking.
  4. Spoon on Cranberry Sauce: Add a generous teaspoon of cranberry sauce atop the brie in each pastry cup, providing tartness and holiday color.
  5. Add Herbs and Egg Wash: If using, sprinkle finely chopped rosemary or thyme on top of the cranberry sauce. Lightly brush the edges of each pastry cup with egg wash for a golden, shiny finish while avoiding the cranberry topping.
  6. Bake to Perfection: Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes or until pastry is puffed and golden and the brie is melted. Remove and cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Use cold puff pastry until baking to keep it flaky and tender.
  • Do not overfill pastry cups to prevent spillover and sogginess.
  • Choose a high-quality, creamy triple-cream brie for best flavor and melt.
  • Homemade or chunky cranberry sauce adds better texture and brightness.
  • Brush egg wash carefully—avoid cranberry sauce to prevent discoloration.
