Festive Christmas Cranberry Roll Ups are quick and easy holiday appetizers featuring flaky puff pastry filled with tangy cranberries, creamy cream cheese, and a hint of citrus sweetness. These bite-sized treats offer a perfect balance of sweet, tart, and creamy flavors with an optional crunchy nut topping. Ideal for holiday parties, family gatherings, or office celebrations, these roll ups are customizable, visually festive, and delightful to share.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • Puff pastry sheets (1-2 sheets, thawed if frozen)
  • Cream cheese (8 oz, softened)
  • Fresh or frozen cranberries (1 cup, chopped)
  • Honey or maple syrup (2 tbsp)
  • Orange zest (1 tsp)
  • Egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water)

Optional Ingredients

  • Chopped nuts – pecans or walnuts (1/4 cup)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine softened cream cheese, honey or maple syrup, orange zest, and chopped cranberries. Mix until well incorporated, ensuring the cranberries are evenly distributed for bursts of flavor in every bite.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry sheets to smooth any creases and achieve even thickness for consistent baking and flaky texture.
  3. Spread the filling: Evenly spread the cranberry cream cheese mixture over half of the puff pastry sheet, leaving a small border around the edges to prevent filling from spilling out during baking.
  4. Add optional nuts and fold: If using, sprinkle chopped nuts over the filling. Carefully fold the pastry sheet over the filling to create a rectangle and gently press the edges to seal.
  5. Slice and brush with egg wash: Using a sharp knife, slice the pastry into 1- to 1.5-inch wide strips. Brush each strip with the beaten egg wash to ensure a golden, shiny finish once baked.
  6. Bake to perfection: Place the roll ups on a parchment-lined baking sheet spaced evenly. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.

Notes

  • Use cold puff pastry to maintain maximum flakiness during baking.
  • Do not overfill to avoid pastry bursting and leaking during baking.
  • Apply a light, even coating of egg wash to achieve the best color and shine without pooling.
  • Fresh cranberries are preferred for better texture, but thawed and drained frozen cranberries work well.
  • Serve roll ups warm or slightly warm for optimal creaminess and flavor.
