Ingredients

Scale

Shrimp and Seasoning

  • Fresh peeled and deveined shrimp (about 1 pound)
  • 45 garlic cloves, minced
  • 23 tablespoons butter
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Mashed Potatoes

  • 2 pounds Yukon Gold or Russet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 34 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup warm milk or cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Peel and cut the potatoes into even chunks. Boil them in salted water for 15-20 minutes, or until tender. Drain well.
  2. Make the Mashed Potatoes: While hot, mash the potatoes with butter and warm milk or cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste until creamy and smooth.
  3. Sauté the Garlic Shrimp: Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until pink and opaque. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Combine and Garnish: Plate a generous scoop of mashed potatoes, then arrange the garlic shrimp on top or beside. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley or chives for color and freshness.

Notes

  • Always use fresh garlic and shrimp for best flavor and texture.
  • Do not overcook shrimp; remove once they turn pink.
  • Use warm milk or cream when mashing potatoes for a silky texture.
  • Season gradually, tasting as you go to avoid over-salting.
  • Let mashed potatoes rest for a minute to absorb flavors.
