Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs (hard-boiled)
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar or lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Decorations and Variations

  • Black olives or peppercorns (for eyeballs or veins)
  • Food coloring (optional, for spooky effect)
  • Optional extras: sriracha, chopped chives, crispy bacon bits, shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Hard Boil the Eggs: Place eggs in a pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes. Transfer eggs to an ice bath to cool completely, then peel carefully.
  2. Prepare the Yolks: Slice the eggs in half lengthwise and remove yolks, placing them into a medium mixing bowl. Arrange the egg whites on a serving tray.
  3. Mix the Filling: Mash the yolks with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, vinegar or lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  4. Add Color and Spooky Elements: Dye part of the filling with food coloring for colorful effects or mix in ingredients like sriracha for a bloody look. Use olives or peppercorns to create “eyeballs” or veins.
  5. Fill the Egg Whites: Transfer the yolk filling to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a corner cut off, then pipe the mixture neatly into the egg white halves.
  6. Garnish and Decorate: Add toppings such as paprika, olives, chives, or creative edible decorations to complete the spooky look.

Notes

  • Use eggs that are a few days old for easier peeling.
  • Mash yolks well or use a food processor for a silky smooth filling.
  • Experiment with different piping tips to vary the texture and shape of the filling.
  • Keep deviled eggs refrigerated until serving for best freshness and flavor.
  • Prepare eggs up to 24 hours in advance and add garnishes just before serving.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Freezing deviled eggs is not recommended, as it affects texture.
  • Serve eggs cold or at room temperature; no reheating necessary.
